The “Fast-Mover” of Japan: Passenger Films 600-mph USO Pacing Airliner in an Enduring Mystery

While UFOs dominate discussions about unexplained aerial phenomena, their underwater counterparts—known as USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects)—may hold even deeper secrets. A remarkable piece of footage that surfaced in 2019 captured what could be one of the most compelling USO sightings ever recorded: a mysterious object filmed from an airliner, seemingly traveling at an incredible speed beneath the waves of the Sea of Japan.

A High-Speed Anomaly from 30,000 Feet

The incident took place on July 7, 2018. A passenger on a flight from mainland Japan to Los Angeles was filming the ocean from their window on a clear day. As they recorded, a long, dark, and unsettling silhouette became visible, moving through the water below.

What made the sighting extraordinary was its speed. The airliner was cruising at approximately 1,000 km/h (about 600 mph). For the object to remain within the smartphone’s narrow field of view, it must have been pacing the aircraft, traveling at a comparable velocity underwater—a feat considered impossible with current human technology.

Skeptics initially suggested the object was merely the shadow of the airplane itself. However, as outlets like UFO Sightings Hotspot pointed out, an airplane’s shadow would include the distinct shape of its wings, which were absent from the silhouette. This led researchers to classify the object as a “Fast-Mover,” a term for high-velocity, unidentified craft.

Expert Declares It an “Alien Spacecraft”

The footage caught the attention of Marc D’Antonio, an astronomer and the chief video analyst for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). D’Antonio, who has previously worked with the US Navy and has experience aboard their submarines, dismissed any conventional explanation. After analyzing the video, he stated definitively that the USO was an “alien spacecraft.”

But D’Antonio’s analysis came with a more explosive claim. He asserted that the US Navy is not only aware of these phenomena but is actively running a top-secret program to track them. According to him, the Navy has already classified these high-speed underwater objects as “Fast-Movers” and is conducting a clandestine project to understand their origin and purpose.

A Call to Look to the Oceans

The YouTube channel “Sky and Space,” which originally posted the video, argued that footage like this is clear proof that “something beyond our comprehension is happening.” They contended that such extraordinary cases are often intentionally suppressed and that it is time for the public to face the truth: that we are not the only intelligent life in the universe.

The 2018 Sea of Japan USO incident remains a tantalizing mystery. It serves as a powerful reminder to UFO watchers that the skies are not the only place to search for answers. The deepest, most unexplored parts of our own planet—the oceans—may be hiding secrets far greater than we can imagine. Perhaps it’s time we started paying more attention to the things moving beneath the surface.
