Japan’s “Tic Tac” Incident: Did Police Helicopters Intercept a UFO Over Tokyo Before the COVID Lockdown?

Just before Japan declared a state of emergency at the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic, a stunning and bizarre object was photographed in the skies over Tokyo. The incident, captured by a civilian bystander, not only shows a mysterious, egg-shaped craft but also reveals the presence of a Tokyo Metropolitan Police helicopter that appeared to be monitoring it. Was this a case of a government cover-up, a secret interception of a UFO on the eve of a national crisis?

The Sighting: A “Strange Airplane” Over a Park

The story began on the afternoon of March 16, 2020. A woman was out shopping for essential supplies in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward when she spotted what she initially thought was a “strange airplane” and quickly snapped a photo with her smartphone.

“At first, I thought it was a plane, but it felt a little eerie,” the witness recalled. “I could clearly see two objects with my naked eye. The lower one seemed to be following the upper one slightly behind. As I zoomed in with my phone, it felt like it was getting closer, and I was suddenly terrified.”

The photo shows two bright, white objects against a clear blue sky. A detailed investigation was launched to determine what, exactly, she had captured.

The Analysis: One Helicopter, One… Tic Tac?

A thorough analysis of the image and official flight records revealed a startling truth.

The Upper Object: This was quickly identified as a Tokyo Metropolitan Police helicopter. Flight data confirmed that a Leonardo AW109 police helicopter (call sign JA35MP) was hovering at an altitude of approximately 937 meters (3,074 feet) in that exact location, at that exact time, for over 10 minutes. There were no major incidents or fires reported in the area that would explain such a prolonged hover.

The Lower Object: Here is where the mystery deepens. This second object could not be identified. It was not a reflection or a lens flare from the helicopter. A detailed analysis of its size, based on its distance relative to the known helicopter, estimated it to be a massive 15 meters (49 feet) in diameter—far larger than any conventional helicopter.

Most strikingly, its shape was a smooth, perfect, egg-like oval with no protrusions. It bore an uncanny resemblance to the world-famous “Tic Tac” UFO, the very same type of craft captured by US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots from the USS Nimitz, which the Pentagon officially declassified.

The Definitive Proof: No Rotors, No Wings

To confirm that the lower object was not another helicopter, researchers performed a 3D topographical analysis on both objects from the photo.

The Police Helicopter: When a cross-section of the upper object was analyzed, the graph clearly showed the sharp, distinct peaks and valleys created by the helicopter’s rotor blades.

The “Tic Tac” UFO: When the same analysis was performed on the lower object, the graph showed only a smooth, curved line representing its body. There were no rotor blades, no wings, no tail, no landing gear—nothing.
Furthermore, the object remained stationary despite strong northwesterly winds, ruling out any possibility of it being a balloon or kite.

Conclusion: A Secret Interception and a Government Cover-up?

The evidence points to a chilling conclusion: the witness did not just photograph a UFO; she captured the moment a police helicopter was actively observing or intercepting it. The helicopter’s prolonged, unexplained hover directly above the object’s location strongly suggests an official response to an anomalous aerial phenomenon.

On the eve of a national lockdown, as the world braced for a pandemic, it seems something extraordinary was happening in the skies over Tokyo. The Japanese government, like its US counterpart, may be well aware of the presence of these advanced, unidentified craft but has chosen to keep the truth hidden from the public. This incredible photograph may be one of the few pieces of evidence that has slipped through the cracks.
