In this eerie personal account submitted by a Japanese woman, a casual night in Shibuya at age 17 turns into something far beyond the ordinary. The Disappearance

At 17, I spent a lot of time in Shibuya, Tokyo, surrounded by new friends and the excitement of youth. I became part of a tight-knit group of five girls, and eventually we connected with a group of slightly older guys. Among them was “T-senpai,” a fun-loving, kind, and loyal leader-type who treated me like a little sister. We were close—not romantically involved, but deeply bonded.

Then, without warning, the entire group of guys disappeared.

Phone calls went unanswered. Texts were ignored. It was as if they had vanished off the face of the earth. Nearly two months passed in silence.

The Return… and a Stranger

Out of nowhere, one of the guys finally called. He explained that after visiting a haunted location, T-senpai had mysteriously crashed his motorcycle and been arrested by police. Details were vague, but something had clearly gone wrong. Now that he was “free,” we agreed to meet again.

We chose a familiar family restaurant in the middle of the night. When I arrived, all the boys were there—except T-senpai. And yet, there was a man I didn’t recognize sitting among them. By chance, I ended up across from him.

He looked me in the eye, called me by name, and spoke to me as if we were longtime friends. I was confused. I turned to one of the other guys and asked, “When is T-senpai getting here?”

He gave me a puzzled look and replied:
“What are you talking about? He’s right in front of you.”

Panic set in.

The man in front of me was not T-senpai. His face, build, voice, personality—everything was different. Yet, everyone around me treated him as if he were the real T-senpai. No one seemed to notice anything wrong. The vibe was normal. Too normal.

I didn’t dare say what I was thinking. Something told me I shouldn’t. I played along for a while, trying to make sense of the situation. But fear began to build. Eventually, I made an excuse and left early.

As I stepped outside, the “new T-senpai” followed me. He stopped me and said, with an eerie smile:

“You noticed, didn’t you?”

I felt my blood run cold. I turned and walked away without answering, trembling.

Was It a Ghost—or a Different Timeline?

That night, I deleted every contact connected to that group—both the boys and the girls. No one else seemed disturbed. Everyone had accepted this “fake T-senpai” without question. I couldn’t trust anyone anymore.

Later, I shared the story with a friend who was into the occult. She suggested that a spirit from the haunted site might have possessed T-senpai, and that I alone was able to see its true form.

But I’ve always wondered if something else happened.

What if I had somehow slipped into a different timeline—one where this man had always been T-senpai? And what if he knew I didn’t belong there?
