The Impossible Hexagon: Robotic Observatory in Japan Films a UFO Creating a Supersonic Shockwave
In the world of UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), sightings often fall into familiar categories: disks, triangles, orbs. But in 2017, a robotic observatory in Japan captured something that defies all classification: a bizarre, hexagonal, bolt-shaped object traveling at supersonic speeds, complete with its own shockwave. This is the incredible case of the Yokohama Hexagon, a craft whose very existence seems to violate the laws of aerodynamics.
A Bizarre Anomaly Over a US Naval Base
The incident occurred on December 23, 2017, at 10:31 AM, on a clear day over Yokohama, Japan. The object was filmed by SID-1 (Space Intrusion Detection System-1), an automated platform from the Space Phenomena Observatory Center (SPOC). The location of the sighting is particularly noteworthy: it was in the direction of the Yokosuka Naval Base, home to the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet.
The object was traveling from south to north, directly against the day’s wind, immediately ruling out any possibility of it being a balloon, kite, or airborne debris. Image analysis revealed its truly baffling form. It was not a bird, drone, helicopter, or any known aircraft, including the Osprey. It was a flat, hexagonal shape, closely resembling the head of a flange bolt.

Breaking the Sound Barrier in an “Impossible” Shape
What elevates this sighting from merely strange to physically impossible is the distinct, cone-shaped vapor trail visible at the front of the object. This is a Mach cone, or shockwave, a phenomenon that occurs when an object travels faster than the speed of sound (Mach 1, or approx. 1,224 km/h / 761 mph).

Supersonic fighter jets are designed with sharp noses, thin wings, and sleek, aerodynamic bodies specifically to slice through the air and mitigate the intense heat and pressure—the so-called “thermal barrier”—of high-speed flight. An aluminum alloy airframe, for example, has a structural temperature limit of around 155°C (311°F).
The Yokohama object, however, defies this fundamental principle of engineering. Its flat, hexagonal front would hit the air like a wall, creating catastrophic levels of air resistance and heat. By all known laws of physics, a craft of this shape traveling at supersonic speeds should instantly disintegrate. Yet, the footage shows it flying calmly, completely intact.
This is the defining characteristic of the object, and perhaps the most powerful evidence of its otherworldly origin. It is a craft that operates in a way that is simply impossible for any known terrestrial technology.
Conclusion: A Geometric, Technological Marvel
After a thorough investigation, SPOC researchers concluded that the object was a genuine, technologically advanced UFO. Its flight against the wind, its lack of any visible propulsion, and, most importantly, its physically impossible shape for supersonic travel, all point to a craft that operates on principles of physics far beyond our own.
The Yokohama Hexagon remains a unique and deeply perplexing case. It is not just a light in the sky, but a clear, daylight recording of a geometric, structured craft performing an impossible feat. It serves as a stark reminder that the skies may hold technological marvels that are not only unidentified, but truly incomprehensible.
